The resulting qualification will give you the knowledge and practical skills you need to perform as a leading health and safety professional of the future. You will gain confidence in your capabilities to recognise and solve everyday health and safety issues and take opportunities for improvement.

This advanced international health and safety qualification will support your academic and career progression.

This is a replacement qualification for the NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

Average Teacher to Student Ratio: 1:20

Duration

  • 231 hours (No breaks between exams and modules)
  • This full-time / part-time programme can be completed within 7 months
  • Full-time: 5 days per week (3 hrs per day) / Part-time: 2 days per week (4 hrs per day)

NEBOSH International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals
Part 1 – knowledge/thinking/planning
Unit ID1: Know – workplace health and safety principles (International)
Learning outcome 1
You will be able to advise on the types of legislation likely to apply to your organisation and how enforcement actions could apply; the relevance of the International Labour Organization’s conventions/recommendations to the organisation; how non-government bodies and standards could influence health and safety in the organisation.
Learning outcome 2
You will be able to promote a positive health and safety culture by:
– gaining commitment and participation; and

– engaging, supporting, and influencing leaders (and others) to change attitudes and behaviour and make health and safety a priority.
Learning outcome 3
You will be able to assess, develop and maintain individual and organisational health and safety competence.
Learning outcome 4
You will be able to understand risk management including the techniques for identifying hazards, the different types of risk assessment, considerations when implementing sensible and proportionate additional control measures and develop a risk management strategy.
Learning outcome 5
You will be able to develop and implement proactive and reactive health and safety monitoring systems and carry out reviews and auditing of such systems.
Learning outcome 6
You will be able to continually develop your own professional skills and ethics to actively influence improvements in health and safety by providing persuasive arguments to workers at all levels.
Learning outcome 7
You will be able to develop a health and safety policy and strategy with your organisation (including proactive safety, Corporate Social Responsibility and the change management process.

You will be able to manage contractors and supply chains to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Nebosh Courses - Mode of Assessment

The assessments focus on the application of knowledge to help you prepare for the health and safety tasks faced in the workplace.

Assessment Format
The qualification units are assessed in the following way:

ID1 – Know – workplace health and safety principlesAssignment - workplace-based tasks together with simulations and reflective statements and a research topic
ID2 – Do – controlling workplace health issuesScenario-based case study
 ID3 – Do – controlling workplace safety issuesScenario-based case study
Each assessment is a substantial undertaking. We anticipate that it will take you around 60 hours to complete the ID1 assignment and 40 hours each for the ID2 and ID3 case studies. The time-period given for you to complete each assessment reflects this:
Unit ID1: 6 weeks (30 working days)
Unit ID2: 4 weeks (20 working days)
Unit ID3: 4 weeks (20 working days)

Nebosh Courses - Entry Requirement

  • Academic Level: NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Language Proficiency: WPLN Level 6
  • Work experience: 1-2 years
