Course Details

Course Overview:
WSQ “Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites” is a mandatory WSH training course for all workers working in construction. Construction workers are required to go through the course before they start work.

The Workplace Safety and Health (Factories, Safety Training Courses order – clause 2 (6)) stipulates that “Any worker employed in manual labour to carry out construction work in building and engineering construction worksites must undergo a safety and health training course approved by the Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health.”

After the course, the trainees should be able identify their own roles and responsibilities in a construction job, follow safe work procedures, adopt relevant risk control measures when working at height and respond to fire
emergencies.

  • Identify own roles and responsibilities as an employee in a construction job
  • Follow safe work procedures in a construction job
  • Follow safe “Work-at-Height” procedures
  • Respond to fire emergencies

Mode of Assessment:
At the end of the module, learners are required to complete a total of 2 hours of assessment, comprising a written assessment (1 hour) and practical performance (1 hour).

Attendance Requirement:
100% for classroom and practical sessions

Passing Criteria:
Learners must be deemed ‘C’ Competent in all the assessment components to pass.

Qualification:
Upon successful completion of course and assessment, learners will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

The “Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites” is a mandatory WSH training course for all workers working in construction sites.

Entry Requirement

Learners must be above 18 years of age and are assumed to:

  • Have employment status as manual labour to carry out construction work in building and engineering construction worksites.
  • Be medically fit.
  • Be able to listen, read, speak and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 2.
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills (ES) level 2
  • Have good organisational skills.
  • Be able to follow written and oral work instructions.
